Ward Profile

The map below provides some information about each Ward 4 HWDSB school. You can click on the symbol in the top left corner of the map window, to see the layers within the map, and to turn off any data you do not want to see.

You can also click on the symbol in the top right of the map window, to open the map in Google Maps.

Sherwood and it’s FI boundary are also shown as it is the catchment French Immersion school for Ward 4 students.

* PLEASE NOTE: The HWDSB pdf of the Viscount boundary map has the K-5 and 6-8 boundary lines reversed. I have notified the staff and this will be fixed in the next few days.

NOTE: Information is needed to understand how the approved residential development at the former Delta school site will affect enrollment at surrounding HWDSB and HWCDSB schools. Currently, it has been stated that a future Long-Term Facilities Master Plan may recommend a boundary review to balance enrollments, but it’s not specific to the Delta development of 962 residential units at 1284 Main St E.

* Sherwood is shown as it is the French Immersion catchment school for Ward 4 students. It is actually in Ward 6. 2023 Enrollment is not shown as students were at the former Barton site the past two years while Sherwood was being renovated.

Ward 4 Profile

This information is based on 2021 Census data.

Population – Ward 4 has 39,330 residents or 6.9% of Hamilton’s population.

Land Use & Development – Did you know that 32.54% of the land use in Ward 4 is industrial, and 16.24% is parks and open spaces? When we include 7.11% for vacant lands and 7.43% for transportation and utilities, just under 30% of land use in the ward is residential, with 26.36% of that in the residential lowrise category.

Health Behaviour – Only 29% of males 12 and over are physically active, and 22% of females in this age group. Within this same age range, 78% of males eat a low number of fruits and vegetables, and 70% of women fit into this category as well.

Religion – Almost half of Ward 4 residents are not religious and of the other half that are, almost 50% of those are Catholic.

* Please note that at the time of publishing the post, the religious data was not working within the Ward 4 spatial data (likely due to the cyber attack our city has been dealing with since February 2024). Because of this missing data, I provided the link to the Open Hamilton portal and provided the link below:
